Biography
Caliban is a German metalcore band from Hattingen, North Rhine-Westphalia. It was founded in 1997 under the name Never Again. The band name refers to the character Caliban from William Shakespeare's drama "The Tempest". The current line-up consists of Andreas Dörner (vocals), Marc Görtz (lead guitar), Denis Schmidt (rhythm guitar), Patrick Grün (drums) and Kenneth Iain Duncan (bass, vocals). Caliban is one of the most influential representatives of German metalcore and has released thirteen studio albums to date. The most successful include Ghost Empire (2014, No. 7 in Germany), Elements (2018, No. 6 in Germany) and Dystopia (2022, No. 6 in Germany). Their latest album Back From Hell was released on April 25, 2025, preceded by the singles "I Was a Happy Kid Once" and "Echoes" in 2024.
