Burning Sensations was an American rock band from Los Angeles. Formed in 1982 by leader Tim McGovern, a former member of The Motels, the group included Rob Rio Hasik, Barry "The Hatchet" Wisdom, Morley Bartnoff, Jeff Hollie, and Michael Temple. They achieved success with a unique fusion of rock and calypso styles, notably on the MTV hit âBelly of the Whaleâ (1982). Their debut self-titled album Burning Sensations (1983) was produced by McGovern and Dave Jerden. The band is also recognized for a cover of the Jonathan Richman song âPablo Picassoâ (1984), which appeared in the film Repo Man (1984) and its corresponding soundtrack. Burning Sensations disbanded in 1987.
