Burning Brides, formed in Philadelphia in early 1999 by guitaristâvocalist Dimitri Coats and bassist Melanie Coats, debuted at The Khyber on May 11, 1999, quickly attracting local attention. Their breakthrough came with Fall of the Plastic Empire (April 17, 2001), later reâissued by V2 Records in 2002 after a successful SXSW showcase; the single "Arctic Snow" was performed on Late Night with Conan OâBrien. Subsequent releases included Leave No Ashes (June 29, 2004), produced by George Drakoulias, featuring "Heart Full of Black" that appeared in Guitar Hero, Burnout 3: Takedown, and NHL 2005; Hang Love (June 19, 2007), recorded independently with drummer Pete Beeman; and Anhedonia (June 10, 2008), whose tracks "If One Of Us Goes Further" and "Flesh And Bone" were featured in the 2009 film Suck. The band toured with The White Stripes, Audioslave, A Perfect Circle, Mastodon, and Lollapalooza, and opened for Melvins and Marilyn Manson in Philadelphia. After Dimitri Coats and Melanie Coats separated in 2014, the group disbanded, concluding a career noted for energetic live shows and contributions to metal and hard rock.
