Born in the Beninese city of Cotonou, Rao Bsyd Machifa Rawad became a household name through his alias Bsyd. With a passion for music and a desire to renew Benin's cultural landscape, Bsyd joined forces in 2007 with Amir El Présidenté, Nasty Nesta and D.A.C. to form the Cotonou City Crew. Influenced by the rap aesthetic that is beginning to develop in Africa, the group aims to be a catalyst for the country's new talents, and in turn to create a hip-hop music scene in Benin. A label was officially launched in 2008, and two compilations were released: W.A.R vol. 1 (2008) and W.A.R vol. 2 (2008). Little by little, the group, which sometimes goes by the name CCC, made its mark on the Beninese music industry, winning numerous awards for best album, best mixtape, best video and best single. In the midst of this breakthrough, Bsyd honed his skills and released his first album, Entre 2 mondes , in 2011, putting the rapper in the spotlight. He gradually set himself apart with tracks like "Assou" (2010), "Foun mi layé" (2014) and "Femme africaine " (2015). In 2018, his efforts were rewarded by his signing to major label Universal Music Africa, a first for an artist from Benin. While he produced two singles with the structure, "Elle a le feu" (2018) and "Oh My Baby" (2019), their collaboration ended after two years by mutual agreement. Bsyd returned to independence and a few months later unveiled a new album, Ãternel incompris (2020), which reassured his fans after this new departure.
