Bridget St. John, born Bridget Anne Hobbs on October 4, 1946 in East Molesey, Surrey, England, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist known for her contributions to folk music. She began performing at Sheffield University in the mid-1960s after taking up the guitar. St. John's breakthrough came through her association with John Peel, who produced her debut album Ask Me No Questions (1969) on his Dandelion record label. This was followed by Songs for the Gentle Man (1971), and Thank You For... (1972). In 1974, she released Jumblequeen, her first album not with Dandelion Records. St. John's music has been featured on BBC Radio and Peel sessions, and she toured extensively in the UK during the early 1970s. She was voted fifth most popular female singer by Melody Maker readers in number 5 position of 1974.
