Biography

As one fifth of Irish boyband Westlife, Brian McFadden scored 10 Number 1 singles and the group became one of the big pop sensations of the early 2000s with their anthemic brand of sentimental ballads. A tall, blond haired, doe-eyed heartthrob with a massive following of adoring teenage girls, McFadden's tumultuous marriage to Atomic Kitten's Kerry Katona turned the pair into tabloid stars, but he left the group in 2004 and, after divorcing Katona, was soon engaged to Australian singer and actress Delta Goodrem. He worked with Robbie Williams' songwriter Guy Chambers on debut solo album Irish Son (2004) and a move towards a rockier sound saw single Real To Me shoot to Number 1 in the UK, while Almost Here - his duet with Goodrem - topped the Australian charts. Though his fame slipped away in Europe, McFadden found more success in Australia with the top five album Set In Stone (2008) and hit single Just Say So, and he later became a judge on Australia's Got Talent and worked as a television and radio presenter.
