Biography

Brian Colin Dee, born on March 21, 1936 in London, England, is an English jazz pianist. He began his career playing at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in 1959 and gained prominence after joining the Jazz Five and touring nationwide opposite Miles Davis. In 1960, he was voted Melody Maker’s 'New Star of the Year'. Dee collaborated with notable jazz musicians, including Ben Webster, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, and Chet Baker. From the late 1960s, he worked extensively as a session musician, playing on orchestral recordings and with the Ted Heath Orchestra under Don Lusher's direction. He also accompanied singers such as Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, and Elton John. Dee released several albums, including Lowrey Organ Love Story (1971) and The Happy Hammond Plays All Time Great Movie Themes (1973).
