Brenna MacCrimmon, born on June 19, 1970, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian folk artist. Her interest in Turkish and Balkan music began in her youth after discovering albums in a library in Burlington, Ontario. While studying ethnomusicology at the University of Toronto in the early 1980s, she met local Turkish musicians and started learning the baÄlama. MacCrimmon's career took off with her album KarÅılama (1998) with Selim Sesler, which won the Juno Award for Best Global Album. She also contributed to notable albums such as Baba Zulaâs Psyche-belly Dance Music. In 2001, she released Ayde Mori, followed by Kulak Misafiri (Events in Small Chambers) in 2009. MacCrimmon's work includes appearances in the film Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul, directed by Fatih Akın, where she performed "Penceresi Yola Karsı" and "Ben Bir Martı Olsam".
