Independent noise rock / extreme punk group Brainbombs was formed in Hudiksvall, Sweden in 1985. The band was founded by vocalist Peter RÃ¥berg, guitarist Jonas Tiljander, bassist Andreas Lönnquist (later replaced by Mattis Rundgren), and drummer Anders Bryngelsson (drums). They added trumpet player Dan RÃ¥berg and second guitarist Lanchy Orre to create a unique sound that blended the energy of garage punk and the aural onslaught of experimental noise rock. Lyrically, their songs were confrontational and dealt with violence, torture, and other taboo subjects which proved to be controversial. After an appearance on a compilation album in 1986 and the singles âJack the Ripper Loverâ (1989) and âAnne Frankâ (1990), Brainbombs released their debut album, Burning Hell, in 1992. They followed that debut with the albums Genius and Brutality... Taste and Power (1994), Obey (1995), and Urge to Kill (1999). After a nine-year break, Brainbombs returned with the album Fucking Mess (1999). They continued with the albums Disposal of a Dead Body (2013), Souvenirs (2016), Inferno (2017), and Cold Case (2020). After the release of the 2023 single âBlackout Ripper,â Brainbombs returned with their album Die in 2025.
