Biography

Formed by guitarist and songwriter Crispin Gray, British alternative rock band Daisy Chainsaw is best known for lead singer Katie Jane Garside, the hit single "Love Your Money" and the album Eleventeen (1992). Hailing from London, the band was formed in 1989 when the singer responded to a classified ad placed by the guitarist to form a band completed by Richard Adams (bass) and Vince Johnson (drums). After a series of hectic gigs, the noise-rock outfit signed to Deva Records and released the Love Sick Pleasure EP, followed by radio and TV appearances that saw their lead single "Love Your Money" reach number 26 in the charts in February 1992. Hosted by One Little Indian, Daisy Chainsaw followed this up with "Pink Flower" (#65) and the album Eleventeen, which reached #62 in the UK charts. After a tour with Mudhoney and Courtney Love's band Hole, followed by another with Sheep on Drugs, the singer literally disappeared from the scene, leaving her musicians at a loss. The album For They Know Not What They Do (1994) was produced with her replacement, Belinda Keith, before her departure and the subsequent separation. Crispin Gray went on to form the bands Dizzy Q Viper and Vapid Dolly, before reuniting with Katie Jane Garside in Queen Adreena in 1999.
