Biography

Paul Mansiamina Mfok, also known as Bopol Mansiamina, born on July 26, 1949, in Leopoldville (now Kinshasa), Democratic Republic of the Congo, was a Congolese musician, bass player, guitarist, composer, producer, and singer. He started his career in 1969 with Orchestre Bamboula, which represented Zaire at the Festival of African Music in Algeria. Mansiamina later joined Dr Nico's African Fiesta Sukisa and co-founded Orchestre Continental and Afrisa, collaborating with musicians like Tabu Ley and Wuta Mayi. In the late 1970s, he moved to West Africa and joined Sam Mangwana's African All-Stars. Mansiamina began his solo career in 1980 and formed Les Quatre Étoiles in 1982 with Wuta Mayi, Nyboma, and Syran Mbenza. Notable songs include "Manuela" and "Pitie, Je Veux La Reconciliation". He died on November 7, 2021, in Paris.
