Biography
Formed in Mansfield, Nottingamshire, in 1978, B-Movie originally featured Steve Hovington (vocals, bass), Paul Statham (guitar, keyboards), Rick Holliday (keyboards), Graham Boffey (drums), who have been part of reformations, and Lou Codemo (bass). Named after an Andy Warhol painting, B-Movie recorded the EPs Take Three and Nowhere Girl, released in 1980 by Dead Good Records, followed by the single "Remembrance Days", which reached #61 in the UK charts in 1981. After signing with independent label Some Bizzare and releasing "Marilyn Dreams", the cult hit "Nowhere Girl" reached No. 67, the band saw the departure of Boffey, Holliday and Codemo. A new line-up recorded the John "Jellybean" Benitez-produced single "A Letter from Afar" and the album Forever Running (1985), released on Sire Records in 1985 and featuring re-recorded versions of some tracks. Separated shortly afterwards, B-Movie resurfaced on stage between 2004 and 2006, then in 2011, for the release of the track "Echoes " (2012), the EP Distant Skies (2013) and the albums The Age of Illusion (2013) and Climate of Fear (2016), with a new version of "Nowhere Girl". After the 2018 release of the Take 2 EP on Loki Records, Hidden Treasures follows in 2025, featuring the three remastered singles, seven previously unreleased tracks and various versions.
