Emerging from London’s underground scene, the group initially gained attention with the 2002 single "Season Song", which later appeared on the soundtrack to the British horror film 28 Days Later. Their debut album, Nothing Changes Under The Sun, was released on 3 September 2000. In 2002 the album Man Mountain added to their catalog. Their second album, The Soundings, followed on 12 June 2004. In 2007 the album First Steps Into… was released on 24 September, accompanied by the EP Down The Days on 1 December. Subsequent releases included Sum of the Parts in 2009, a B‑sides collection, Restless Spheres on 16 September 2016, and World Contact Day in 2022. Throughout their career, Blue States maintained a presence in the downtempo and electronic chillout genres, touring within the UK and collaborating with fellow electronic artists.
