Biography

Lemon Jelly is a British electronic music duo from London, formed in 1998 and comprising Fred Deakin and Nick Franglen. The duo initially met as teenagers but went their separate ways before reconnecting in the late 1990s and launching Lemon Jelly. They gained early traction with three critically acclaimed EPs—The Bath, The Yellow, and The Midnight—released between 1998 and 2000, which secured them a record deal with XL Recordings. Their debut album, Lemonjelly.ky, was released in 2000, compiling their previous EPs. In 2002, Lemon Jelly released their second studio album, Lost Horizons, featuring the singles "Space Walk" and "Nice Weather for Ducks", which earned them nominations for the Mercury Music Prize and a BRIT Award for Best Dance Act. Notable tracks from this period include "A Tune for Jack" featured in an episode of CSI: Miami and "The Staunton Lick" used in the British sitcom Spaced. Their subsequent album, '64–'95, released in 2005, featured samples drawn from a single year between 1964 and 1995. The duo went on hiatus starting in 2008, marking the end of their active career as Lemon Jelly.
