Biography
The Blue Sky Boys, an American country music duo consisting of brothers Earl Bolick and Bill Bolick, were born in West Hickory, North Carolina. They made their radio debut in 1935 at WWNC in Asheville, North Carolina, as part of the "Crazy Hickory Nuts." In June 1936, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia, performing at WGST and signing with RCA Records. Their first recordings, "Sunny Side of Life" coupled with "Where the Soul Never Dies", became an instant success in 1936. Between 1937 and 1941, they recorded about 100 songs for RCA. After serving in the military from 1941 to 1946, they resumed recording but retired in 1951 due to personal issues. The Blue Sky Boys reunited in 1962 after Starday Records released an LP of their radio recordings and continued to record sporadically until the late 1970s.
