Bill Anschell (born 20th century) was an American jazz pianist, composer, musical director, and author from Seattle, Washington. Anschell graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wesleyan University in 1982. Between 1989 and 2002, he was based in Atlanta, serving as a coordinator for the Southern Arts Federation and producing the radio program JazzSouth. He released his debut album, Rhythm Changes, in 1995. The follow-up recording, A Different Note All Together (1998), reached the top 50 for national jazz airplay and was named one of the yearâs best releases by United Press International. Anschell relocated to Seattle in 2002, where he led the Bill Anschell Trio and served as the musical director for vocalist Nnenna Freelon. His compositions appeared in television series such as The West Wing, The Wire, and NCIS: LA. Anschell received the Golden Ear Award for Northwest Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year in 2006, 2011, and 2012, and was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 2016.
