Biography
Born Benjamin Duterde on November 10, 1984, he is best known by his stage name Ben LâOncle Soul (Ben the Uncle Soul). After studying Fine Arts and graduating in 2004, he joined gospel group Fitavana. After performing on stage at the Olympia, he signed a management contract which led to him signing with the Motown France label. His first release was 2009âs Soul Wash EP. In 2010, he released his self-titled debut album, which proved to be a commercial success, going triple Platinum in France. He followed that up with the 2011 release Live Paris. Three years later, he collaborated with the American group Monophonics for the 2014 album à Coup de Rêves, which included a duet with Keziah Jones on "Simply Beautiful", originally by soul music legend Al Green. His 2016 album Under My Skin was a modern tribute to the music of Frank Sinatra. In 2019, he returned under the name Ben with a self-titled EP that included three songs from Addicted to You, his 2020 album that includes collaborations with IAM, Yuna and Samory I.
