Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness, also known as BCUC, is a group from Soweto, South Africa, formed in 2003. The ensemble consists of Nkosi "Jovi" Zithulele, Kgomotso Mokone, Thabo "Cheex" Mangle, Mritho Luja, Lehlohonolo "Hloni" Maphunye, and Skhumbuzo Mahlangu, with Mosebetsi Ntsimande as the featured bassist. The group sings in all 11 official languages of South Africa and is known for their unique blend of African music and world music. BCUC released their debut album Our Truth in November 2016. Their second album, Emakhosini, was recorded in Lyon and released in March 2018, receiving critical acclaim from The Guardian with a rating of four out of five stars. In May 2019, BCUC followed up with their third album, The Healing, which also earned four out of five stars from The Guardian.
