Bardo State is a Dutch electronic duo from Amsterdam formed in 2004 by Frank Wijn and Dorian Broekhuyse. Wijn is the son of Dutch concert pianist Jan Wijn, while Broekhuyse attended the conservatory in Amsterdam and has experience in pop and dance music. Their music is influenced by composers including Satie, Ravel, and Arvo Pärt. They released their debut studio album, Mariposa (2008), and collaborated with various vocalists such as Jo Lemaire and Kevin Mark Trail. Their track "Kosovo" (2008) appeared in the film Jekyll and Hyde (2008). Several of their songs have been licensed for compilations including Buddha Bar 9 (2007) and Supperclub presents Nomads 3 (2005). Following the bankruptcy of United Recordings in January 2010, the rights and communication concerning the duo were transferred to Bardo State Music. Their recording career includes the singles "Paradis" (2008) and "This Is Not America" (2008).
