Barbara Thalheim, born on September 5, 1947 in Leipzig, Germany, is a singer and songwriter. She began her musical training at the Central Studio for Entertainment Arts and later studied composition under Wolfram Heicking at Berlin's Hanns Eisler School of Music from 1973 to 1976. Thalheim released her first single "Frühling in der Schönhauser" in 1971. Her debut album, Lebenslauf, was released in 1978, followed by Was fang ich mit mir an in 1980. Throughout her career, Thalheim collaborated with notable artists such as Georges Moustaki and Konstantin Wecker, and toured extensively across Europe. In the late 1980s, she faced a travel ban due to political reasons but resumed her recording career with Die Kinder der Nacht in 1985. After German reunification, Thalheim continued releasing albums such as Ende der Märchen (1992) and Fière de ma grande gueule (2001).
