Leys, whose real name is Leslie Makiesse, is a French rapper born in 1997 in Verdun and raised in Reims. Of Congolese and Central African descent, she began rapping at the age of sixteen, influenced by artists such as Nicki Minaj. Her style oscillates between hardcore rap, trap and drill, with incisive lyrics and a punchy flow. She came to prominence in 2018 with her participation in Fianso's "Rentre dans le Cercle", then in 2020, by winning the Prix du Jury des iNOUïS at the Printemps de Bourges festival. In 2022, she took part in the first season of Nouvelle Ãcole, reaching the final with the track "Parabellum". Other notable tracks include "Minimum Love" in collaboration with Fresh, and "Codes", which exemplify her musical style. In March 2024, she released her first album, the conceptual Leys. In 2025, the singles "TDP 2" and "Ride or Die" are released, followed by "Les 12 Règles", "Number One", "Ton prénom" and "Black Woman", paving the way for the release of the Famme EP in January 2026.
