Baka Beyond, a fusion group formed in 1992, was founded by vocalist Su Hart and guitarist Martin Cradick after they traveled to southeast Cameroon to record traditional Baka music. Inspired by the Baka's unique musical culture, they integrated these sounds into their own music. The band released its debut album Spirit Of The Forest in 1994, followed by The Meeting Pool in October 1995. Over the years, Baka Beyond evolved into a touring ensemble with musicians from various countries. Notable albums include Journey Between, released in 1998, and Sogo, released in 2000. The band has performed at major festivals such as WOMAD and Glastonbury, and their tracks have been featured on TV soundtracks. Baka Beyond's activism includes building a music house for the Baka tribe and supporting healthcare and education through the charity Global Music Exchange.
