Biography
Aya Ueto, born ä¸æ¸å½© on September 14, 1985, in Nerima, Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese singer and actress. At age 12, she won the special jury prize at the seventh Japan BishÅjo Contest, which led to her joining the talent agency Oscar Promotion for singing, dancing, and acting lessons. In 1999, Ueto formed the girl group Z-1 with fellow contestants, but the group disbanded in 2002. That same year, she signed with Pony Canyon and released "Pureness", her debut single as a lead artist. Ueto's music career took off with the release of her first studio album Ayaueto in March 2003. She followed this with Message (2004), Re. (2004), License (2006) and Happy Magic: Smile Project (2009) which also charted within the top 20. Ueto's acting career also flourished, with her debut in the 1999 thriller Satsujinsha: Killer of Paraiso and notable roles in dramas like 3-nen B-gumi Kinpachi-sensei and she won two Television Drama Academy Awards for her performances in Ace o Nerae! (2004) and Nagareboshi (2010).
