Biography

Born on July 18, 1995 in Hamden, Connecticut, Avery Wilson is a soul/R&B singer, songwriter, dancer, and performer. He is best-known as a contestant on Season 3 of American talent show The Voice in 2012. Wilson began his career at the age of 9 when his father recognized his natural singing abilities. His father began to set up open mic nights at a local McDonalds to bring the community together and to showcase his son’s talents. His father continued to support his talents as he grew older. As a teenager, he released a demo of “Ringtone” as a single, which became a regional hit in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. Wilson was the co-winner of the Next Teen Superstar competition in New York in 2011. The following year, at the age of 16, he appeared on the third season of The Voice and performed on Team Cee Lo Green. He then released the digital EP On Top of the World. Although he was a considered an early favorite, Wilson was eliminated in October, which surprised viewers. However, he still signed a deal with RCA Records and Clive Davis. In 2015, he released the single “If I Have To”, followed by three singles – “Dollar Bill”, “Do for You”, and “Wass the Move” – in 2018. Those three singles were including on the five song release FYI. In 2019, Wilson released the single “Callin’”.
