Artful Dodger, an English UK garage duo consisting of Mark Hill and Pete Devereux, formed in 1993. Initially known for their underground bootleg recordings, Artful Dodger transitioned into a mainstream musical project, creating original material that blended electronic music and UK garage sounds. Their breakthrough came with the release of Re-Rewind (2000), which charted in the United Kingdom's top 20. Following this success, they released their debut album It's All About The Stragglers in November 2001, featuring collaborations with then-up-and-coming vocalists like Craig David. The duo achieved significant chart success with seven consecutive singles all of which charted in the United Kingdom top 20, including "Woman Trouble" (featuring Robbie Craig and Craig David) and "Think About Me" (featuring Michelle Escoffery). In 2001, Hill and Devereux parted ways due to creative differences, leading to the purchase of the Artful Dodger trademark by Blessed Records. Despite this, they won numerous accolades, including the Number 1 UK Producers of the Year award in 2000 and Ivor Novello recognition for their songwriting. The duo disbanded in 2006, with Hill and Devereux unable to release new music or perform under their own name after a reunion attempt in 2017.
