Armand Hug, born December 6, 1910, in New Orleans, was an American pianist known for his work in stride piano and Dixieland jazz. He began his professional music career at the age of 13, playing with various local bands, including Harry Shields in 1926, the New Orleans Owls in 1928, and Sharkey Bonano in 1936, with whom he made his first recordings. Hug was particularly noted for his solo piano performances, appearing in local clubs and a local television show. In 1951, he recorded a duo piece with Ray Bauduc for Okeh Records. He also collaborated with Tony Parenti & His Downtown Boys in 1955. Hug held a long-standing engagement at the Royal Orleans for decades.
