Archers of Loaf is an American indie rock band formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 1991 by Eric Bachmann on vocals and guitar, Eric Johnson on guitar, Matt Gentling on bass, and Mark Price on drums. The group released their debut single "Wrong / South Carolina" in 1992, followed by the single "Web in Front" in 1993, which gained attention from university radio stations. Their first album, Icky Mettle, was released in 1993 and ranked number 32 on Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of the 1990s list. In 1995, they signed with Alias Records and released their second album, Vee Vee. The band toured extensively, including opening for Weezer in 1995. Their third studio album, All the Nation's Airports, was released in 1996. The band disbanded in 1998 after releasing their final album, White Trash Heroes. In 2011, they reunited for a series of performances and tours. In 2022, they announced and released Reason in Decline, their first album in 24 years, preceded by the singles âIn the Surface Noiseâ and âScreaming Undercoverâ, and supported by a series of East Coast tour dates.
