Biography
Antonio Tarragó Ros is an Argentine accordionist and singer born on October 18, 1947, in Curuzú Cuatiá. The son of musician Tarragó Ros, he became a leading figure in chamamé and folclore litoraleño. He released his debut album, Chamamé con Antonio Tarragó Ros, in 1971 and followed it with works such as Sapucai and Amanecer de mi gente. His repertoire includes celebrated songs such as âMarÃa vaâ, âCanción para Caritoâ, and âJineteando la vidaâ. Tarragó Ros is noted for his environmental activism, often incorporating these themes into his compositions, such as the track âEl rÃo heridoâ. He composed scores for films including Mercedes Sosa, como un pájaro libre and Perros de la noche, and co-wrote the 2008 cantata Pasiones en la historia argentina. In 1995, he received the Premio Konex as one of the top five folk composers in Argentina.
