Antonio Breschi, born in 1950 in Florence, Italy, is an Italian pianist, composer, and writer. He began piano lessons at three and graduated from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory, founding the Florence Jazz Society at the age of sixteen. Breschi’s breakthrough came with the 1980 album, Irish Meet the Blues, followed by Ode to Ireland (1982), which earned critical acclaim and established his reputation as a cross‑genre innovator. Over the next decades, he released a steady stream of albums, including Al Kamar (1989), Orekan (1993), At the Edge of the Night (1994), and Songs of the North (1996), often collaborating with artists such as Ronnie Drew, Máirtín O'Connor, and José Seves. His compositions have appeared in film, theatre, and television, notably the score for Il Linguaggio Dei Luoghi. Breschi received the 2008 Swiss National Radio Television award for Heyoka: The Soul Shaster and has been recognized for pioneering a “symphonic” concept that blends ethnic instruments with classical piano. He has continued to perform and record, contributing to music education and social projects.
