Angelica Garcia, born in Los Angeles, California, is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in El Monte, she began her musical journey influenced by her mother's career as a freestyle musician who performed under the mononym Angelica and scored a top-40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with her cover of "Angel Baby". Garcia studied creative writing at Cooperative Arts High School in New Haven, Connecticut, before returning to Southern California to graduate from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She sang vocal jazz and performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Garcia's family moved to Accomac, Virginia when she was 17, and she later settled in Richmond. Her debut album Medicine for Birds was released in 2016. In 2019, her song "JÃcama" gained significant recognition when it was included on Barack Obama's year-end list. Garcia has since released several albums including Cha Cha Palace (2020) and Gemelo (2024). Her extended play Echo Eléctrico, released in 2021, was shortlisted for the inaugural Newlin Music Prize in Richmond, VA. Additionally, she appears as the DJ of the in-game rock-oriented radio station Horizon XS in the video game Forza Horizon 5.
