Amy Rigby, born Amelia McMahon on January 27, 1959, in the Pittsburgh suburbs, is an American singer-songwriter. She moved to New York City in 1976 and began her music career playing with several local bands, including The Shams and Last Roundup. Her solo debut came with Diary of a Mod Housewife in 1996, which received critical acclaim from publications like The Village Voice. Rigby's subsequent albums, including Middlescence (1998) and The Sugar Tree (2000), were also well-received. She met Wreckless Eric in Hull, England, and they married, forming a duo that released albums like Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby (2008). Rigby's lyrics often address the trials of single motherhood and consumerism. Notable songs include "The Good Girls" and "Dancing With Joey Ramone." She has also written a memoir, Girl to City, published in July 2019.
