Biography

Born in Toronto, Canada, Amy Sky began writing songs at an early age. She took lessons in piano, guitar, cello and recorder and progressed in her education with a degree in music theory and composition. She began her music career as a songwriter, landing a job as a staff writer at MCA Music Nashville. She held subsequent positions at Warner-Chappell and EMI and penned songs for a whole host of famous voices including Reba McEntire, Olivia Newton-John, Diana Ross and Cyndi Lauper. Her debut album as a recording artist was titled Cool Rain and released in 1996. Along with her second album, Burnt In The Sun, she won herself three SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) Awards, and received nominations for two Juno Awards. Another three solo albums followed - Phenomenal Woman in 2001, With This Kiss in 2003 and Life Lessons in 2007 - before Sky decided to focus her attention on her songwriting.
