Aloysio (also spelled as AloÃsio) de Oliveira was a Brazilian singer, musician, musician, voice actor, radio host, and lyricist. He began playing guitar at a young age and formed Bando da Lua in 1929, recording early material for Brunswick Records. The group achieved early recognition in 1930 with recordings for Odeon Records, followed by a prolific period with RCA Records from 1932 to 1939. In 1939, Bando da Lua toured the United States with Carmen Miranda. After Mirandaâs death in 1955, Oliveira returned to Brazil and became artistic director at Odeon Records. In 1963, he founded Elenco Records, releasing influential works by Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Baden Powell, and Sérgio Mendes until selling the label in 1967. Oliveira died on February 4, 1995, in Los Angeles.
