Alice Merton, who was born in Frankfurt am Main on September 13, 1993, is a true cosmopolitan. The daughter of a German mother and an Irish father, she spent her childhood with her parents in New York, Canada and England. One of the constants is music: at the age of five she started playing the piano, at 16 she took part in a course for singer-songwriters at her school in Munich, wrote songs on the guitar and was soon performing with her first band. After a few semesters of economics, Alice Merton transferred to the Popakademie in Mannheim, where she studied pop music design. In 2015, she attracted attention as a songwriter for the act Fahrenhaidt, and in 2016 she won a newcomer competition in Hamburg in the acoustic pop category. Together with her former fellow student and current manager Paul Grauwinkel, she founds the label Paper Plane Records, on which she also releases her first single "No Roots" (2016). The EP of the same name followed in 2017. "No Roots" reached number 2 in the charts in Germany and number 1 in France, but the single also climbed to the top of the alternative radio charts in the USA. Alice Merton soon released the second single "Hit The Ground Running" (2017). She is also nominated for numerous awards and wins the 2018 European Border Breakers Award (EBBA) for up-and-coming artists and sings on Tom Odell's album Jubilee Road. The first single from her next debut album "Why So Serious" will be released in 2019, and her debut album Mint will reach number 2 in the German charts in the same year. 2021 is all about the tracks "Vertigo" and "HERO/ISLAND". In 2022, the singer released the album S.I.D.E.S., which reached number 28 in the German charts. At the beginning of 2026, Alice Merton returns with the album Visions. The album reaches number 66 in Germany.
