Biography

Alex Bugnon is a Swiss smooth jazz pianist whose uncle was the late jazz trumpet player Donald Byrd, and who studied at the Paris Conservatory and the Berklee School of Music in Boston. His debut recording 'Love Season' went to number eleven on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and number 127 on the Billboard 200 in 1989. 'Head Over Heels' (1990) reached number five on the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and peaked at number 131 on the Billboard 200. '107 Degrees in the Shade' (1991), 'This Time Around' (1993) and '...As Promised' (2000) all went to number five on the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and 'Tales From the Bright Side' (1995) and 'Soul Purpose' (2001) peaked at number six. Other releases include 'Southern Living' (2003), 'Free' (2005), 'Going Home' (2010) and 'Harlem' (2013). His 2020 schedule was to include appearances at venues in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
