Alejandro Gómez Herrera, known professionally as Alejandro Filio, was born on March 13, 1960, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He is a Mexican singer-songwriter and poet, prominent within the Nueva canción movement. Filio began his career as a composer at the age of 16, performing in peñas and bars across Mexico City during the 1980s. His early television appearances included shows like "AlegrÃas de mediodÃa" and "La Movida," and he participated in the Festival de la OTI from 1987 to 1990 and again in 1999.Filio's debut album, Hay Luz Debajo, was released in 1988. Throughout the 1990s, he continued to release albums such as Filio (1991), En Esta Inmensidad (1993), and CaÃn (1994). His album Un Secreto a Voces (1998) featured collaborations with notable artists including Silvio RodrÃguez, VÃctor Manuel, and Luis Eduardo Aute. Filio's work has been interpreted by various artists such as Mijares, Sasha, and Pandora. He has also collaborated with Silvina Garré, Pedro Aznar, and Joan Issac on different projects. In 2016, he released Un Secreto Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, showcasing his enduring influence in the music scene.
