Valeria Castro RodrÃguez (born April 28, 1999, in Los Llanos de Aridane, Laâ¯Palma, Canary Islands) began her musical journey at age four at the Insular School of Music, later refining her songwriting while studying biotechnology in Madrid. She first gained recognition with her 2021 EP Chiquitaâmarked by the resonant single âGuerrera,â a tribute to her foremothersâwhich showcased her intimate yet powerful voice and earned early acclaim. In 2022, she earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Singer-Songwriter Song with âLa RaÃz,â written in the wake of Laâ¯Palmaâs volcanic eruption, and released her debut full-length Con cariño y con cuidado in 2023, a self-produced collection that critics named one of the yearâs best and led to sold-out performances in major Spanish venues and appearances at festivals like Noches del Botánico. That album also featured collaborations with Vetusta Morla, Macaco, Tanxugueiras, Pedro Guerra, Silvana Estrada, and Silvia Pérez Cruz, reflecting her collaborative spirit and folk-pop instincts. On April 14, 2025, she released her introspective sophomore album El cuerpo después de todo, recorded in Mexico, which delves into themes of self-image and vulnerability and includes her first duet with Silvia Pérez Cruz. The album earned multiple awards, including seven nominations at the 2025 Premios de la Academia de Música, and was supported by a European and Latin American tour.
