Biography

A singer and producer of zouk and traditional music, Alain Marlin was born in Fort-de-France, Martinique, in the 1960s. His voice was spotted at the age of thirteen, when he sang in a choir. He then joined a group of negro spirituals. By the time his first album, Iché Lespwa, was released in 1988, he was considered a rising star on the zouk scene, notably with "Zetwoil". This trend continued with the release of Taksi maron (1991), whose title track "Taksi" is still part of the collective memory. This was followed by two albums, Trankil (1992) and Poker (1992), featuring contributions from Dédé Saint-Prix, Claudy Siar and Jean-Paul Pognon. Alain Marlin then turned his attention to producing compilations of Zouk and artists such as Georges Fordant with his Poker Productions label.
