Biography
Ãkos Kovács, born in Budapest on April 6, 1968, and known simply as Ãkos, is a Kossuth Prize-winning Hungarian singer, songwriter, composer, and poet who has been a major figure in Hungarian music since the 1990s. He first gained national recognition as a vocalist, lyricist, and composer of the group Bonanza Banzai, formed in 1987 with Zsolt Hauber and Gábor Menczel. He began his solo career in 1993 while still with the band, releasing Karcolatok, which reached Number 1 on the Hungarian charts, and eventually releasing 18 Hungarian- and six English-language albums. His releases include Még egyszer (2015) and Magunk maradtunk (2022). Numerous albums have achieved gold or platinum status, with combined sales exceeding one million copies in Hungary. Ãkos also plays guitar, bass, synthesizer, and drums, and has written poetry, theatre music, and film songs.
