Biography

Aja Volkman, born on March 4, 1980, in Eugene, Oregon, U.S., is an American singer. She attended South Eugene High School and graduated in 1998. In 2005, after a solo performance, Michael PeÃ±a approached her to form the indie rock band Nico Vega. The band released several EPs before signing with MySpace Records and releasing their debut album Nico Vega in 2009. They toured extensively with artists including Gavin Rossdale, Manic Street Preachers, Imagine Dragons, She Wants Revenge, and Blondie. Their single "Beast" gained popularity in 2013 through BioShock Infinite advertisements, resulting in more than five million combined downloads and streams. Nico Vega released their second album Lead to Light on July 22, 2014. In 2017, Volkman released her solo album Sandy.
