Afro Medusa was formed in London by Isabel Fructuoso, Nick Bennett and Patrick Cole after Isabel Fructuoso relocated from Spain to the UK in the late 1990s. The trio combined Isabel Fructuosoâs Latinâfunk background with Nick Bennett and Patrick Coleâs electronic production skills, producing the early EP "Calling" in 1999. Their breakthrough came with the single "Pasilda" in 1999, which climbed to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in November 2000 and reached number 31 on the UK Singles Chart in October 2000. In 2002 the group released "Dreams", which peaked at number 26 on the same Billboard chart. After signing with the sublabel suSU, the group rebranded as Afro Angel and issued "Join Me Brother" (2002) and "Magic" (2004). The band continued to release tracks such as "Pasilda Pt II: Come a Little Closer" (2007), "Oracle" (2008) and "Diving in Your Soul" (2014), collaborating with vocalists Heidi Vogel, Cherrie Harris and Emily Dell.
