Adélaïde Gbahou, known by the stage name Adé Liz, was born in Zagné, Ivory Coast, on January 1, 1953, and is a singer known for her contributions to African music. Liz began her vocal training in a choir led by Pedro Wognin and moved to France in 1982, where she met fellow artists including Rose Bâ. Liz released her debut album Mlen gniniè in 1985, arranged by Sammy Massamba. Her subsequent albums include Kéhi (1987), Déka (1991), and Doubla (1998). In 2006, Liz released Amour, an album noted for its melodies and well-cadenced rhythms. Her work is primarily associated with the Zouglou genre, a popular variety of African music from Ivory Coast. Liz received the César de la meilleure chanson ivoirienne for Kéhi in 1987 and was named Meilleur artiste ivoirien en France in 2009. In 2022, she was elevated to the rank of Officer of the Ivorian Order of Merit by the Ivorian State.
