Biography
Adán Zapata Mireles (born October 20, 1990, in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León) emerged as a central figure in Mexican hip-hop when he joined the group Mente en Blanco in 2006, quickly becoming lead vocalist on their debut collective album Anticuados, which featured over 50 raw-tracked songs. Building on that momentum, he co-released Zapata Producciones in 2007, positioning the group as a rising underground force, then solidified his personal style with Borrachos y Grifos in 2010, showcasing tracks like âAndamos Marihuasâ and âSoy AsÃ.â In 2011, he and Mente en Blanco released The North Side Kings, featuring hard-hitting cuts like âEnemigosâ and âUno por Uno,â and also contributed to MCâ¯Davoâs album Psicosis that same year. In early 2012, they recorded Las de Amor y Decepción before tragedy struck: on June 1, 2012, the day after his son was born, Adán Zapata and three group members were fatally shot in Monterrey. That summer, the posthumous album Soy de Barrio was released, featuring standout tracks such as âSoy de Barrioâ and âAndo Bien Pilas,â and later compilations like Eternamente (2012). His legacy continued with digital anthology releasesâ2018's Top 20 Ãxitos De Antaño, released in 2021.
