Biography

A finalist on Season 8 of the show American Idol, and an actor since childhood, Adam Lambert (born in Indiana Polis, Indiana, U.S., on January 29, 1982) is a quintessential product of American show business. Deliberately maintaining ambiguity about his sexual orientation, the singer and actor comes across as the polar opposite of the Jonas Brothers. His debut album For Your Entertainment was released on November 23, 2009, and immediately shot to number three on the Billboard charts. It must be said that the album benefited from the production and songwriting of heavyweights like Dr. Luke and Linda Perry. Its follow-up, released in 2012, Trespassing, reached the top of the charts but failed to match its sales, despite featuring Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams. Invited to sing on tour with the band Queen, Adam Lambert did not sacrifice his solo career and released his third album, The Original High, in 2015, before returning to the road with Queen in 2017. Still juggling his projects with equal skill, he lent his voice to a character in Playmobil: The Movie, announced his participation in Queen’s Rhapsody Tour , joining them for two songs during the opening of the Oscars, and created an album titled Velvet , initially released as two EPs before taking the form of an LP that came out in March 2020. The album features contributions from producers Tommy English and Steve Booker, and most notably from Nile Rodgers, the guitarist from Chic, who brings his legendary style to the single “Roses”. He was then set to embark on a lengthy tour, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, which affected most of the countries where he was scheduled to perform. In early 2023, a new album titled High Drama was released, consisting of 11 tracks, including “Ordinary World” and “Holding Out for a Hero”. Later in 2023, Adam Lambert reunited with Queen for a new North American leg of The Rhapsody Tour, then concluded the tour with the band in Japan in February 2024. That year, he became a coach on The Voice Australia and released the EP Afters, a more straightforward pop and dance project led by “Lube”, “Wet Dream”, “CVNTY”, and “Deep House”. Beginning in September 2024, he made his Broadway debut in the role of the Emcee in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, a role he held until March 2025 alongside Auli’i Cravalho. In 2025, he continued his return to musical theater by playing Judas opposite Cynthia Erivo in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. In July 2026, Adam Lambert released the album ADAM, featuring the singles “Eat U Alive” and “Under the Rhythm.”
