Biography

Aaron Espe is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Roseau, Minnesota. Born on August 27, 1981, he began singing in church with his family and started taking piano lessons when he was just 6 years old. After teaching himself how to play guitar during his adolescence, he attended the University of North Dakota and Colorado State University to study English literature. During the early aughts, he embarked on his first tour of the US with the Minnesota folk duo Storyhill and released his studio debut My Whole Life in 2005. Aaron Espe released two albums in 2008—Song from a Small Town and Christmas Songs—before moving to Nashville in 2011 and landing his first publishing deal with JMHB and Revelry Music Group. Over the following years, he continued finessing his gentle brand of folk-pop on releases such as Three (2012), Tennessee Sky (2012), Through Frozen Forests (2012), Safe Enough to Wander (2013), and Passages (2017). Up North, his eighth studio outing, appeared in 2022. Apart from his solo work, Aaron Espe is also a member of the bands Bombs Over Nowhere and Haviland.
