Biography
Active since 1999, the metal and alternative rock band 10 Years has maintained its position over the decades around its leader Brian Vodinh, the original drummer who moved on to bass and then lead guitar. Hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, the band was then also made up of Ryan Johnson and Matt Wantland (guitars), Mike Underdown (vocals) and Lewis Cosby (bass), quickly replaced by Andy Parks on the recording of the first self-produced album Into the Half Moon (2001). After the recruitment of a new singer, Jesse Hasek, in 2002, the band underwent a series of personnel and instrumental changes over the years. From The Autumn Effect (2005), the track "Wasteland " proved a surprise hit in the alternative charts, earning the band a gold disc and a place on the Family Values tour alongside Korn and Deftones. The band continued under the Universal Republic banner with albums Division (2008) and Feeding the Wolves (2010), before signing with Pale Horse Records for the following Minus the Machine (2012) and From Birth to Burial (2015), which charted on the Billboard 200 (at #26 and #66 respectively). Having left in 2009, guitarist Matt Wantland made his return in 2016 and took part in the recording of (How to Live) As Ghosts (2017), the first album for Mascot Records, while Brian Vodinh now asserts himself as the leader on lead guitar. The following album Violent Allies (2020) was recorded with producer Howard Benson, and its successor Deconstructed (2022), available only digitally, serves up eighteen tracks from the repertoire in alternative versions. In 2024, 10 Years returned with original material for the Inner Darkness EP.
