Biography

Zarama was a Basque rock band from Santurzi, Spain, formed in 1977 Roberto Moso on vocals, Txus Alonso on guitar, and El Putre on drums. In their early years, the band participated in local contests and released their debut single "Nahiko" in 1982 through Discos Suicidas. Zarama's breakthrough came with the release of their first album Indarrez in 1984, produced by Ángel Altolaguirre. The band gained recognition for being one of the earliest rock groups to sing entirely in Basque. Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Zarama released several albums including Gaua Apurtu Arte (1985), Dena Ongi Dabil (1987), and Bostak Bat (1989). They also performed outside the Basque region, notably in Barcelona and Granada. In 1994, after releasing their album Binilo Bala, Zarama disbanded due to internal conflicts. The band reunited in 2009, releasing a live album Zuzen! and an EP Sinestezina (2013).
