Youth of Roots is a roots rock reggae band formed in 2016, inspired by the Rasta Revival movement that emerged in Jamaica. Drawing from classic Jamaican reggae while incorporating influences from Japan, the UK, and the US, the band has developed a contemporary sound that respects tradition while expanding its boundaries. Fronted by guitarist and vocalist KON RYU, Youth of Roots builds its music around conscious lyrics and warm, groove-driven rhythms. The lineup also includes KENTARO on guitar and chorus, SATOSHI on guitar, KON KEN on bass, chorus, and bandmaster duties, and KIWAMU on percussion, creating a layered, rhythm-focused ensemble rooted in live instrumentation.ãRather than replicating vintage reggae, Youth of Roots blends old and new elements, balancing steady one-drop grooves with melodic hooks and subtle modern textures.
