U the Starr is a reggae artist from Kaizuka, Osaka Prefecture, known for blending authentic Jamaican grooves with a personal style shaped by lifelong exposure to music. Influenced by his father, who was part of the reggae sound system UP DOWN SOUND, he began his musical journey from an early age. While active with UP DOWN SOUND, he launched his solo career as U the Starr, releasing his debut EP SOUND WAVE in 2022. The record featured the lead track "Kansha" and "Nandakanda", the latter produced in Shikokuâs Shimanto City, both of which gained attention and established his presence in the Kansai reggae scene. His music combines deep-rooted reggae flow with a sensitivity that communicates clearly even to listeners unfamiliar with the genre. In 2024, U the Starr traveled to Jamaica to film the music video for "BLACKANESE", the lead track from his first album, BLACKANESE (2025), capturing his vibrant energy and unique personality. Among his notable works is the track "Sweet Jamaica" from BLACKANESE, reflecting his strong connection to the genreâs birthplace.
