Biography

Yelena Eckemoff, a pianist and composer, began playing piano by ear at age four under her mother's tutelage, who was a professional pianist and teacher. By seven, she attended the Gnessin State Musical College and later studied classical piano at the Moscow State Conservatory. Eckemoff moved to the United States in her late 20s and started recording albums across multiple genres, including classical and jazz. She released several albums with the L&H label, such as Cold Sun (2010), featuring collaborations with Mads Vinding and Peter Erskine. Other significant releases include In the Shadow of a Cloud (2017) and Nocturnal Animals (2020). Eckemoff's compositions often blend classical music with jazz.
